Massive Canada, a prefab mass timber company, is at the Development Permit stage of creating a groundbreaking mass timber parking structure in British Columbia. The project aims to revolutionize the construction industry by replacing traditional concrete and steel with sustainable and renewable mass timber. The structure will feature vertical supports made of glue-laminated (GLT) posts, which will hold up a podium slab made of cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels. These panels will provide a rigid structural platform comparable in strength to concrete. The project is expected to offer benefits such as reduced carbon footprint and faster construction timelines.
